9th Spanish & 1st European Conference on Service-Learning in Higher Education

The 9th Spanish & 1st European Conference on Service-Learning In Higher Education will take place in September 20th-22nd in Madrid,  hosted by Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad Pontificia Comillas and Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia. 

The theme of the conference is the role of service-learning in the construction of global citizenship.

The conference will be a great opportunity for  meeting with colleagues from all over Europe, sharing S-L experiences, research and processes of institutionalization of service-learning in European universities, as well as for deepening understanding, reflecting and encouraging the debate on aspects related to theoretical and practical issues. We hope that the Conference will also contribute to promoting practice in European universities, encouraging universities to generate stable structures that support this methodology, and strengthening national and European networks by analyzing their structure, needs and challenges.

Over 300 professionals will meet and participate in plenary sessions, and present research, S-L experiences and theoretical contributions through oral communications, posters and symposia. In addition, meetings of the Spanish networks and the emerging European Network of S-L in higher education have been organized in the context of the conference.

Service-learning awarded again!

The company MSD has won the award in the Corporate Reputation category at the 17th edition of the Fundamed & Wecare-u Awards, for sponsoring the service-learning project Smart World Iinitiative: Educating in the discovery and rational use of antibiotics through crowdsourcing.

The project "Europe Engage - Developing a Culture of Civic Engagement through Service-Learning within Higher Education in Europe" has been acknowledged as a "Success Story - PSC Higher Education.

The project has been marked as "success story" in the Erasmus+ Project Results Platform, a database where you can find descriptions and results of projects supported by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ Programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport.

Curso de verano de la UIMP sobre aprendizaje-servicio universitario

La Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo ha organizado el curso "Aprendizaje-Servicio. ¿Puede una metodología docente transformar la sociedad?", que se celebrará en Santander los días 4 al 6 de Julio.

El objetivo general de este curso es promover el Aprendizaje-Servicio como un enfoque pedagógico que integra y desarrolla el compromiso cívico en la educación superior, los estudiantes, el personal académico y la comunidad en general. Para ello se propone los siguientes objetivos específicos:

• Conocer los conceptos básicos del Aprendizaje-servicio, su fundamentación y su valor      pedagógico.
• Explorar experiencias de aprendizaje-servicio en distintas titulaciones y universidades       nacionales e internacionales.
• Valorar la utilidad y oportunidad del aprendizaje-servicio como propuesta pedagógica    para unir el éxito académico y el compromiso social.
• Diseñar proyectos de Aprendizaje-Servicio viables y contextualizados.

El curso se dirige a profesores universitarios, autoridades académicas, expertos e investigadores en metodologías activas, expertos en formación pedagógica universitaria, representantes de entidades sociales, representantes de organismos públicos y estudiantes de Pedagogía y Magisterio.
